Rather than activating some method of reaching the top of the stage, his jumps are naturally higher than the other characters. In LL1, Candyman's special movement ability is slightly less advanced than the other characters. Main article: Gameplay/Candyman Mobility He hits the ball with his cane and he has a special ability to change the chemical composition of certain objects to give them strange and odd properties due to his mutation. He gives you freedom to play with most playstyles, his only downside being a minor weakness in both creating and dealing with interceptive pressure.Ĭandyman is a tap-dancing dandy with a big yellow head. If you’re not using wall port, you’re not doing it right. You get to wallcamp, approach your opponent to intercept, recatch your long-range angles. As for his wallport mechanic, it functions as a de-pressuring, pressuring and ball control tool. On the other hand, his floatiness does allow him to easily survive lawnmower situations. However, this does make candy susceptible to some attacks (i.e. His floatiness gives him a good boost in ball hogging, as you’re able to control the ball in the air very easily. It also gives you freedom to use it in either simple or extremely complex chains. It has a very high offensive and ball hogging potential, creating lots of pressure from the moment it’s used. His special is the perfect special in many aspects. He also possesses two of the best spikes in the game, so don’t forget to make use of them. Furthermore, they can easily transition into ball hogging, allowing you to reposition, if necessary. For starters, his angles are very powerful offensively, allowing you to take them further beyond with lots of baits at your disposal. He has tools that help him out in any situation. So, you're able to parry it as much as you like after the initial Candyball hit.Candyman is another character with a very powerful kit. Normally, if you're player 1, you can only parry the Candyball once (since multiple parries were patched out), however this is not the case for player 2. It can be a good point of reference to where the ball is going to go whether you're trying to chain it, or if you're trying to defend against it.Ĭandyball has a special property if you're player 2, where you're able to parry it multiple times. When a Candyball gets going it becomes incredibly difficult to challenge, but thankfully, on most stages the Candyball will rotate towards where Candyman is currently standing on the stage. Candyball causes the ball to warp through the wall, ceiling, or floor, to the opposite position of the stage, which is already pretty threatening, but on top of that Candyman is able to chain it multiple times by hitting the Candyball, and he's able to parry it. Just know that if the Candyman is facing away from you with special, tap, tap tap!Ĭandy's special is very phenomenal, and really pushes him to be one the best characters in the game because it compliments his angles incredibly well. With his high jump, he's able to get into any of these positions with ease, and then can force some brutal tap charges on his opponent. When Candyman is able to get away from you, this is where the panic will start to kick in. However, when he's able to get a rotation in or when he has special, candy can be a nightmare to defend. It forces your opponent to cover the ball close, which allows you to create phenomenal pressure scenarios.Ĭovering Candy while he's in hit lag is pretty basic, all you have to do is stand outside of his parry range and bunt. It's extremely sharp, much like his air down, which can act kind of like a Dice up angle. Candy's smash is a mixed bag, with some people thinking it's incredible with other's thinking it's subpar. Not only that, but his forward spike is great for punishing your opponent, where your air down wouldn't normally be able to connect. His spike also noticeably has the best frame data in the game, and has a mini switch up angle as an option (back spike) that lets you pass the ball to yourself easily. His up angle is excellent too, having amazing synergy with his air down which makes your opponent question which way to face when covering him. His air down is his most infamous angle, being the tightest horizontal angle across all characters, and he's easily able to slip it in behind his opponent.

Candyman's angles are some of the deadliest in the game, especially as the ball speed grows.
